American Internet Services (AIS) Expands Enterprise Managed Services (EMS) Portfolio With Cloud-Based Email Solution

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - May 19, 2011) - American Internet Services (AIS), a leading provider of enterprise-class data center and connectivity services in the western United States, today announced the addition of enterprise email to its portfolio of managed services. e-CloudMail is an affordable, fully managed, highly reliable, Microsoft Outlook-compatible email and collaboration service with an emphasis on security. It leverages the robust power architecture, security, network high-availability and network redundancy AIS data centers are known for, with its stellar Professional Services, Service Delivery and Client Services teams, to provide companies with outsourced, headache-free email that can keep up with the demands of their business.

"The thing we've been hearing from a lot from our clients is that their company email is a labor-intensive, mission critical function that they really want taken off their plate if they felt it could be done in a cost-effective way that ensures security and reliability," said Tim Caulfield, chief executive officer at AIS. "Because we already have the infrastructure in place and a knowledgeable staff that can provide end-to-end support, layering in a Microsoft Outlook-compatible service that handles email, calendar, managing contacts and syncing with a mobile device seemed like a natural fit for our enterprise managed services offerings."

Highlights of AIS e-CloudMail:

  • 100% compatible with Outlook, Entourage, Thunderbird and other email readers
  • Webmail access with full calendaring and contacts
  • Multiple anti-virus and anti-spam engines
  • Full IMAP, POP3, MAPI and CalDAV support
  • Private "cloud" architecture with a 99.99% uptime guarantee
  • Shared folders, contacts and calendar (full groupware feature set)
  • Active Directory and SharePoint integration
  • Compliance archiving with Web-based search capability
  • Synchronizes with all current mobile devices including Android, iPhone, BlackBerry and Windows Mobile

AIS delivers the e-CloudMail service from its SAS-70 Type 2-certified data center which features enterprise-grade firewalls. Access to email is provided through secure protocols such as IPSec VPN, secure IMAP, and SSL (HTTPS). Message stores can be archived to encrypted WORM drives (Write Once, Read Many) for regulatory compliance and SAN snapshots are transmitted to secondary data centers for disaster recovery.

Getting Started:

To get started on e-CloudMail, clients are assigned an AIS service specialist who will gather basic information (number of seats, types of devices to support, features required) for the proposed new cloud-based enterprise email system. For most installations, the next steps involve provisioning services on the mail cloud, training for the new web and administrative interface, followed by the migration of users to the new collaboration suite.

If the installation is complex, where compliance or Active Directory integration is required, an AIS systems engineer will be assigned to guide the setup and migration process.

With e-CloudMail, clients have administrative control using a web-based interface for changing passwords, and adding/modifying/removing items such as accounts, distribution lists, and public folders. AIS will maintain operational control and has full responsibility for system maintenance and upgrades. Furthermore, AIS will provide Level 1 and Level 2 help desk support along with 24x7x365 email and phone support.

Pricing and Availability:
AIS offers tiered-pricing starting at under $10/month per seat with no annual maintenance fee.
