American Lithium Minerals Inc. Starts Work on Lithium Claims

HENDERSON, NV--(Marketwire - September 23, 2009) - American Lithium Minerals Inc. (OTCBB: AMLM) (the "Company") is pleased to announce that Hasbrouck Consulting has been contracted to conduct a Gravity Survey of the recently acquired Montezuma Valley, Nevada lithium brine prospects.

The gravity survey will concentrate on the AF group of claims over eight lines that extend essentially from outcrop to outcrop which is necessary for proper analysis of the gravity data with a station spacing of 305 meters.

Following the Gravity Survey, the company will conduct an electromagnetic (EM) survey. Hasbrouck recommends the use of a hybrid tensor CSAMT/MT system developed by Electromagnetic Instruments Inc. and Geometrics Inc. This system is termed the StrataGem and has been used successfully by Hasbrouck Geophysics on a recent lithium brine exploration project in Clayton Valley and previously for a calcium carbonate exploration project on the Columbus Salt Flats northwest of Clayton Valley, in addition to scores of groundwater exploration projects throughout the world.

Tensor CSAMT/MT is an EM geophysical method commonly used in the groundwater exploration industry. It determines the earth's subsurface electrical resistivity distribution by measuring time dependent variations of the earth's natural electric (E) and magnetic (H) fields, as well as the electric and magnetic fields resulting from high frequency induced waves. The method is designed to investigate from depths of approximately 15 to 750 meters, or greater, and because the data is acquired and modeled in two dimensions, both horizontal and non-horizontal features can be accurately mapped.

This acquisition and modeling in two dimensions is particularly important in a complex geologic environment like the Montezuma Lithium Project. In general, electric and magnetic fields are measured both parallel and perpendicular to geologic strike using non-polarized natural and transmitted frequencies. This gives tensor CSAMT/MT a two-dimensional capability that is not achieved by other more commonly used electromagnetic methods (particularly dipole transmitter multiple E-field reconnaissance CSAMT, or CSAET, and scalar CSAMT that only give one-dimensional results). Similarly, standard CSAMT surveys using a polarized source (i.e., an electrical dipole about the length of the depth of investigation) may not be able to map water-bearing fractures or beds depending upon their strike relative to the dipole source, and also often are negatively influenced by near-surface conductive structures (e.g., shallow faults, stream beds, etc.).

Once we have completed our Gravity Survey and electromagnetic (EM) survey, then the data collected from the field work will be transferred to laboratories in Prescott, Arizona for hydrology, geophysics and geochemistry analysis by Hasbrouck Consulting, resulting in the delineation of drill targets. Drilling will be contracted and scheduled after receiving the results of the initial work.
