American Petro-Hunter Updates Drill Progress in Kansas and California

SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwire - September 29, 2009) - American Petro-Hunter, Inc. (OTCBB: AAPH) ("American Petro-Hunter" or the "Company") wishes to update the status of drilling operations on the Archer-Myers #1 Well at the Victory-Randal Island North Project in California, as well as concurrent progress of the #2 Lutters well at the Poston Project in Kansas.

In California, the Archer-Myers #1 well has reached a depth of 3,800 feet and in approximately 5 days is expected to reach the prospective three sand formations that data indicates as showing a cumulative thickness of 54 feet and which appear to contain gas. In Kansas, the #2 Lutters well has reached a depth of 3,500 feet and should reach the T.D. (total depth) of 4,500 feet tomorrow (September 30th) after which a rapid drill stem test will be performed to comparatively assess the oil bearing pay zone previously encountered in the #1 well.

These 2 wells are the first in the Company's fall drilling program that aims to drill five oil and gas wells by the end of November. Following the completion of the #2 Lutters and Archer-Myers #1 wells, the respective drill rigs will immediately proceed to the Archer-Tsakopoulos #2 at the Wurster Prospect in California and the #1 Keck well at the Colby Prospect in Kansas.
