American Petro-Hunter Updates Production Data and Announces Spud Date for Next Kansas Well

SCOTTSDALE, AZ--(Marketwire - September 8, 2009) - American Petro-Hunter, Inc. (OTCBB: AAPH) ("American Petro-Hunter" or the "Company") wishes to provide an update of activities at the Poston Project and #1 Lutters well in Kansas.

The operator has reported to the Company on oil shipments from the Poston Project in the month of August. A total of 1,125 barrels of oil was shipped and sold to N.C.R.A. from production at the #1 Lutters Well. The well was shut in for approximately 5 days for maintenance and has since resumed normal daily production.

In related news, the Company is pleased to announce that it has been advised by the operator that the next well planned for the Poston Project will be designated as the #2 Lutters well and has been scheduled for a firm spud date of September 23rd. A review of the 3D seismic data indicated at least two offset locations with anomalies similar to the initial discovery location and once the offset development well is completed and tied-in, the operator will determine the optimum stroke rate and production for both wells thus maximizing the daily rate for the field.

The Company anticipates that the Poston Project could be fully developed by end of November with a total of three wells in production. Upon completion of drilling at Poston, the drill rig is scheduled to shift operations to the Colby Prospect in order to commence drilling at that location as soon as possible. The Company will release further information when available.
