AMERICAN SYSTEMS Awarded $34 Million Department of Defense Blanket Purchase Agreement

Multi-Year, Multi-Million Dollar Contract to Support Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Program

CHANTILLY, VA--(Marketwire - May 19, 2008) - AMERICAN SYSTEMS, a government and commercial IT solutions provider and one of the top 100 employee-owned companies in the U.S., today announced that it has been awarded a $34,801,258 blanket purchase agreement through the Marine Corps Systems Command for a comprehensive omnibus support contract to the U.S. Department of Defense and the Joint Non-Lethal Weapons (DoD/Joint NLW) program.

Under the terms of the purchase agreement, AMERICAN SYSTEMS is tasked with delivering an array of services, including requirements definition analysis; systems engineering; acquisition and program management; development and integration management; public affairs and Web site support; and the Combatant Command Liaison engagement requirements. The period of performance ends in December 2012.

AMERICAN SYSTEMS will perform a majority of the work from its Dumfries, VA, office and on-site at the Joint NLW Directorate in Quantico, VA, but employees from AMERICAN SYSTEMS and its teaming partners will be located throughout the world at the geographic Combatant Commands and at the U.S. Army installation at Fort Leonard Wood, MO.

The DoD/Joint NLW program awarded the purchase agreement under a full and open, best value competition utilizing the GSA Professional Engineering Services schedule (Schedule 87). AMERICAN SYSTEMS has supported the DoD/Joint NLW Program Research, Development, Testing, and Evaluation (RDT&E) requirements since 1997, shortly after the DoD/Joint NLW Program was established by the DoD.
