AMERICAN SYSTEMS Taps Shawn O'Rourke to Lead Civilian Federal Market Sector of Professional, Technical and IT Services

Former VP of Information Management Services and Risk Management Expert to Oversee Company's Civilian Federal Services

CHANTILLY, VA--(Marketwire - September 13, 2010) - AMERICAN SYSTEMS, a government IT solutions provider and one of the top 100 employee-owned companies in the U.S., today announced the promotion of Shawn O'Rourke to Vice President/Executive Director, Civilian Federal Market; Professional, Technical, and IT Services. In this role, O'Rourke is charged with leading execution of the corporate Energy Management Campaign initiative for the entire federal sector and managing the company's Network Engineering and Management Services (NEMS) and Information Management Services (IMS) Directorates.

With more than 31 years of experience in advancing IT, software engineering and project management for federal organizations, O'Rourke has developed a number of technologies for government, including the "Software Quick-look Process" evaluating software system, "ISO 9001 Program Risk Assessment Process" for identifying high risk program activities and the "Risk Radar Enterpriser®," a risk management tool used by federal, defense and commercial organizations.

O'Rourke first joined AMERICAN SYSTEMS in 2001, serving as Vice President of the Integrated Computer Engineering (ICE) Directorate and the IMS Directorate at the company's Chesapeake offices. Before joining AMERICAN SYSTEMS, O'Rourke held management positions as Chief Operating Officer, Integrated Computer Engineering, Inc., Director, Computers & Concepts Associates, and completed a 21-year Naval Career with tours with Commander Operational Test and Evaluation Force and the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division.

O'Rourke earned a Master's Degree in Information Systems from the Naval Postgraduate School and a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Central University of Iowa. Additionally, he completed training at the Software Engineering Institute, Carnegie Mellon University.

O'Rourke is based out of AMERICAN SYSTEMS' Chantilly office.
