American Technology Receives $800,000 LRAD® Accessory Order From U.S. Navy

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - May 5, 2009) - American Technology Corporation (ATC) (NASDAQ: ATCO), a leading provider of directed sound products and technologies, announced today it has received an $800,000 Scram Cart order from the U.S. Navy for previously purchased LRAD 500X™ systems. The order was secured through maritime security representative Anchor Innovation and is scheduled to ship this quarter.

ATC's proprietary Scram Cart is a portable platform specifically designed for use with LRAD® directed acoustic hailing and warning systems, The mobile configuration increases the effectiveness of LRAD systems by enabling rapid deployment, transportation and storage by a single operator. The rugged, weatherproof system includes a self-contained battery pack that provides up to 6 hours of continuous, full-power operation, thereby eliminating the need for power outlets and extension cords. Built for maritime, platform and land-based applications, Scram Carts enhance the efficiency of LRAD systems through rapid, trouble-free deployment and operation.

"Scram Carts provide U.S. Navy crews the flexibility to quickly deploy LRAD systems on most deck locations," commented Tom Brown, president and CEO of ATC. "We designed and manufacture our Scram Carts to withstand the harshest maritime environment."

ATC's proprietary LRAD systems enable military and security forces to determine the intent of potential threats at safe distances and provide them time and distance to scale their response based on a threat's actions. LRAD is highly effective using directionality and focused acoustic output to clearly transmit critical information, instructions and warnings at distances in excess of 2,000 meters. Through the use of powerful voice commands and deterrent tones, LRAD can create large safety zones, resolve uncertain situations, and potentially save lives on both sides of the device.

"We're off to a strong start in the second half of fiscal 2009," Brown concluded. "With further LRAD orders expected to be received and shipped this quarter, we remain well ahead of last year's revenue pace and on course to exceed fiscal year 2008 financial results."
