American Technology Receives Initial LRAD® and LRAD-R® Orders From India-Based Oil & Gas Companies

Opening Orders Signal Growing International LRAD Deployments

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - December 20, 2007) - American Technology Corporation (ATC) (NASDAQ: ATCO), a leading innovator of directed sound products and technologies, announced today it has received initial LRAD® and LRAD-R® orders from two major oil and gas companies based in India. Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation have ordered LRAD systems for infrastructure protection. ATC expects to deliver the LRAD (Long Range Acoustic Device) systems to India next quarter and receive follow-on orders in 2008.

ATC created the directed acoustic hailing and warning device market category with the introduction of its proprietary LRAD technology and products in 2002. LRAD uses high intensity 15 degrees - 30 degrees focused acoustic output to communicate well in excess of 500 meters with authority and high intelligibility. Through the use of powerful voice commands and deterrent tones, large safety zones can be created while determining the intent, influencing the behavior and gaining the compliance of an intruder.

LRAD-R features an emitter head, integrated camera, high-intensity searchlight (optional) and full pan and tilt capability for precise aiming and tracking. LRAD-R can be operated remotely across an IP network, enabling system operators to respond to potential threats from a safe environment while creating a complete unmanned perimeter security solution. LRAD-R accepts intruder position information from other IP-enabled sensor systems to automatically find and track potential threats. LRAD-R's large safety zone gives security personnel additional time and valuable information if an elevated intruder response becomes necessary.

"We are pleased to add India to our growing list of international LRAD deployments," remarked Tom Brown, president and chief executive officer of American Technology. "We expect these orders to be the first of many from the Indian oil and gas industry. With the assistance of our partner InstaSol, we are also pursuing other directed sound revenue opportunities in India."
