American Technology Secures LRAD-RX™ U.S. Military Order for Maritime Security

SAN DIEGO, CA--(Marketwire - October 9, 2008) - American Technology Corporation (ATC) (NASDAQ: ATCO), a leading provider of directed sound products and technologies, announced today it has received a new order for LRAD-RX™ systems from the U.S. Military for maritime security. The order totals approximately $350,000 and is scheduled to ship this quarter.

ATC's proprietary LRAD® systems and products use directionality and focused acoustic output to clearly transmit critical information, instructions and warnings well beyond 500 meters. LRAD-RX is a remotely operable security solution featuring an emitter head, integrated camera, optional high-intensity searchlight, all driven by ATC's proprietary, robust, IP-addressable pan and tilt drive for precise aiming and tracking. LRAD-RX can also be integrated with radar to provide automated intruder alerts. Through the use of powerful voice commands and deterrent tones, large safety zones can be created while determining the intent and influencing the behavior of unknown personnel.

"We're pleased with the increasing number of U.S. Military acoustic hailing and warning device (AHD) orders," remarked Tom Brown, ATC's president and CEO. "On land or at sea, LRAD systems give our soldiers and sailors time and distance to determine intent and resolve uncertain situations."
