America's Top Cable Companies, Bloomberg Television and Cisco Launch New Initiative to Bring Free Resources to Small Businesses

"Solutions for Small Business" Webcasts, Podcasts and White Papers to Initially Focus on Marketing and Accessing Capital Markets

ALEXANDRIA, VA--(Marketwire - October 1, 2009) - Twelve of the nation's top cable companies, Bloomberg Television® and Cisco have collaborated on a new initiative, Solutions for Small Business, that will provide a comprehensive slate of free educational resources, including Webcasts, podcasts and white papers to small business executives. The initiative is in response to a growing demand for knowledge about flexible solutions that will help drive revenue for small businesses.

Among the free resources offered under the program are Webcasts hosted by Bloomberg Television anchor Monica Bertran. These interactive online video programs offer participants direct access to leading experts who provide advice on topics critical to helping small businesses thrive, such as maximizing marketing dollars and accessing capital markets. Participants will be able to present questions to Bertran and her guests in a live discussion format enabled by Cisco's WebEx and TelePresence® collaboration solutions.

"According to the U.S. Small Business Administration, small businesses represent more than 99.7% of all employers -- they are truly the engine of our economy," said Bertran. "These small businesses are also some of the most at-risk companies right now. Smart entrepreneurs know that one thing they can do in response to this challenging economic environment is to evaluate the role technology can play in helping them manage their costs and expand their businesses. These Webcasts are designed to bring the best thinking on small business solutions directly to the people who need it without time, budget or travel constraints."

The first free Webcast, "Implementing Big Marketing Ideas on a Small Business Budget," is scheduled for October 7 at 12:00 noon ET and features Jane Applegate, the renowned author of "201 Great Ideas for Your Small Business." The second, "Accessing Capital in a Cash-Constrained Environment," is scheduled for November 17 at 12 noon ET, and features Professor William Dunkelberg, Chief Economist of the National Federation of Independent Businesses and Professor of Economics at Temple University. Those interested in participating can register at www.solutionsforsmallbusiness.com.

Following their initial air date, the Webcasts will also be archived for viewing on that site. Additional resources for small businesses, including white papers that delve more deeply into these and other Webcast topics and podcasts with other small business thought leaders, will be routinely added to the Solutions Web site.
