AMETEK Prestolite Power Debuts 'Site Probe' for 24/7 Monitoring of Lift Truck Battery and Charger Usage

Affordable Device Designed to Help Warehouse Operators Determine Power Needs and Find Best Charging Solutions Possible

TROY, OH--(Marketwired - Jul 6, 2015) - AMETEK Prestolite Power, an industry leader in industrial battery charging and fleet management solutions, today introduced the Site Probe, its latest product designed to improve overall warehouse efficiency by providing 24/7 activity monitoring of lift truck battery usage.

The unique new Site Probe fills a long-standing monitoring and reporting need by operators of warehouses and other facilities where motive battery-powered forklifts and other utility vehicles are used.

According to Jeff Harrison, sales and marketing director at AMETEK Prestolite Power, "The Site Probe is a valuable tool for conducting a complete power study of each facility to determine exactly what the power requirements will be for maximum efficiency during battery charging operations. It also serves as a diagnostic device to find the causes of application problems that prevent maximum throughput and productivity."

In addition to its diagnostic capabilities, he said, the Site Probe's built-in data analysis tools allow users to better understand charging opportunities, idle times and amp hours consumed.

Site Probe Feature Highlights:

  • High-speed data collection: It records every activity of the operation. It samples both current and voltage 10 times per second. It stores all data continuously, rather than grouping data into events, to help understand what the battery has experienced throughout the entire power study.

  • Idle time measurement: Especially in "opportunity" or fast-charge applications, Site Probe's ability to measure idle time is crucial in determining how much available recharge time there is for each lift truck.

  • Fast data communications: Site Probe allows for a quick overview of the entire fleet's battery status. Facility managers can examine an individual battery in full detail using two different wireless systems for optimal performance in either mode -- one for a comparative view and one to capture complete lifetime data.

  • Graphical fleet management software: All data retrieved can be quickly and easily evaluated by facility managers who can then conveniently zoom, scroll and generate reports for effective communication with customers.

  • One Site Probe fits all: The device works with any battery from 12 to 40 cells.
