AMETEK Solidstate Controls Inducts Industry Leaders Into Nuclear Engineering Team Hall of Fame

Nuclear Owner's Group Conference Hosted More Than 60 Top Industry Power Experts

COLUMBUS, OH--(Marketwired - Jun 19, 2015) - AMETEK Solidstate Controls, a leading manufacturer of highly customized uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), inducted the first set of industry leaders into its Nuclear Engineering Team Hall of Fame on Wednesday, June 17. From June 17-19, more than 60 of the nation's top power industry experts attended AMETEK Solidstate Controls' 10th bi-annual Nuclear Owner's Group Conference and discussed key topics pertaining to nuclear power plant operations.

The conference provided AMETEK Solidstate Controls with the opportunity to honor two individuals who have made significant contributions to the Owner's Group meeting over the past 20 years, through the sharing of presentations and insights into the issues of power protection within the nuclear power generation industry. The first inductees into the Nuclear Engineering Team Hall of Fame are retirees, Doug Dayton from the South Texas Project and Tim Walker, from the TVA Watts Bar Nuclear.

"The nuclear industry has seen many changes (especially in safety) in the last two years, and this meeting provides an ideal way for the top industry power experts to share best practices through an open forum of presentations and seminars," says John Ely, AMETEK Solidstate Controls' Marketing Manager, adding that "Doug and Tim have contributed significantly from the very beginning."

According to Ely, AMETEK Solidstate Controls does business with the operators of 75 percent of the nuclear power plants in America. The nuclear power industry faces several challenges, including upgrading equipment originally installed during the 70s and moving from analog to digital control.

Conference attendees included plant operations, engineering and maintenance experts who came together to discuss topics such as nuclear power plant design, safety, systems, monitoring, batteries and a host of other key issues.
