Ametherm to Showcase Leading Inrush Current Limiters and NTC Sensing Thermistors at EDS 2016

CARSON CITY, NV--(Marketwired - May 4, 2016) - Ametherm today announced its technology lineup for EDS 2016, taking place May 10-13 at The Mirage in Las Vegas. In suite A47, the company will highlight a wide range of its leading inrush current limiters for reliable circuit protection and NTC sensing thermistors for high-accuracy temperature compensation and measurement.

EDS is the premier annual event for the main players in the international electronics industry. Each year, the manufacturers of electronic components, instruments, and accessories -- as well as distributors and manufacturer representatives -- come together at the show to meet, make contacts, and build their business.

"EDS is an important event for Ametherm; each year it provides us with a great opportunity to touch base with all of our reps and distributors in one convenient location," said Medhi Samii, vice president of engineering at Ametherm. "Since last year, we've launched a number of key solutions for temperature measurement and inrush current protection to meet the needs of a variety of markets, and we look forward to introducing our partners to their benefits at the show."

Highlighted Ametherm inrush current limiters at EDS 2016 will include the company's SL series of standard devices with high steady-state current to 36 A, input energy to 300 J, and diameters from 8 mm to 31 mm. AS series devices on display are designed to increase reliability by eliminating hot spots resulting from fatigue. The current limiters feature extremely high steady-state currents to 50 A, 800 J of input energy, and fast reset times. For single- and three-phase input voltages up to 480 VAC, the company will feature the SURGE-GARD and MegaSurge series, which offer steady-state current to 36 A, up to 300 J of input energy, and resistance at 25 °C from 0.5 Ω to 220 Ω. For welding equipment and plasma cutters, the MCL series will be on display, which delivers an industry-high 680-V voltage rating.

Featured Ametherm NTC sensing thermistors will consist of a variety of probe assembly types, including ring lug (PANR series), epoxy (PANE series), and steel housing (PANH series). Constructed of specially formulated metal oxide ceramic materials that are extremely accurate in temperature sensing, the devices feature resistance at 25 °C from 0.5 Ω to 250.0 Ω, beta from 3,500 K to 4,500 K, a dissipation constant of 3 mW/°C, a thermal time constant down to 10.0 s, and maximum power of 125 mW to 300 mW.

In addition, Ametherm will highlight its new ACCU-Curve series of interchangeable thermistors, which delivers tight tolerances of ± 0.2 °C between 0 °C and 70 °C for critical applications. Offering a fast thermal time constant of 10.0 s and available in four resistance values at 25 °C -- 2.252 kΩ, 10 kΩ, 30 kΩ, 100 kΩ -- the epoxy-coated devices can be potted in a variety of housings for temperature compensation circuits.

Surface-mount thermistors on display will include the KR series with temperature coefficients down to 3.3 %/°C and resistance from 250 Ω to 150 kΩ, and the SM series with power ratings to 250 mW, thermal time constants down to 1.5 seconds, and low profiles to 0.35 mm for LCD controls, relay coils, crystal oscillators, and hybrid circuits. Available in optional DIN-Rail-mountable packages for easy installation, highlighted MM series devices feature a thermally coupled configuration and handle up to 80 A of continuous current and 1200 J of energy.

Made in the U.S.A., Ametherm products are recognized by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) and the Canadian Standards Association (CSA International) for ensured safety, and many are RoHS-2-certified (with Exemption 7a and 7(c)-1). The devices are optimized for a wide range of applications, including AC motors, power supplies, motor drives, audio amplifiers, battery chargers, air sensors, HVAC systems, high-speed computers, MRIs, and X-ray machines.
