Amex to Resume Drilling on its Perron Gold Project

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwire - May 7, 2009) - Amex Exploration Inc. (TSX VENTURE:AMX) announces that the first phase of a 5,000 meter diamond drill program will begin next week on May 10 , 2009, on its Perron gold project located 8 kilometers NW of the town of Normetal in the Abitibi region under the supervision of Jacques Marchand and Nathalie Guillemette both qualified Geologists as per 43-101 policy.

Following a recent resource evaluation on the gold Zone called "Zone 3" estimated to be of 69,907 ounces of gold at 1.86 g/t Au in the inferred category (Press release dated April 21, 2009), a six-hole 1,500 meter drill program is planned to test near-surface, lateral and depth extensions of this underexplored gold Zone.

Zone 3, which represents one of five gold-bearing structures on the property, extends for approximately one kilometer, is 3,7 meter thick and is recognized down to a depth of 200 meters. It consists of a system of quartz veins mineralized in gold, pyrite, with some pyrrhotite, sphalerite, and chalcopyrite. It is hosted in an andesitic sequence altered with silica, sericite, biotite and carbonates. This Zone previously returned intersections such as 12.2 g/t Au over 4.0 meters (section 3100E), 8.8 g/t Au over 2.2 meters (section 3000E), 8.9 g/t Au over 1.7 meter (section 3150E), and a spectacular high grade intersection of 78.1 g/t Au over 1.7 meter (section 3150E).

Also noteworthy is the "Rhyolite Zone", located 300 meters to the North of Zone 3, which. consists of a mineralized rhyolite containing disseminated sulphides with the reported intersection of 2.4 g/t Au over 9.0 meters (hole PE-2008-02, Press release dated January 13, 2009) and the historical intersection of 3.0 g/t Au over 16.5 meters (hole P-99-54). In fact the Rhyolite Zone has been intersected near surface in at least 4 drill holes over a minimum strike length of 150 meters. This very promising Zone has several characteristics of a deformed volcanogenic gold mineralization, typical of the famous multi million ounce gold deposits of the Quebec Abitibi region such as the Doyon or Bousquet Mines. The nature of the host rock, a silicified and sericitized rhyolite, combined with its width of several meters, make this Zone a prime target that will be tested during this phase of drilling.

Amex is optimistic that this phase of drilling will significantly increase the gold resources on its Perron Project and looks forward to the upcoming results.
