AMI Resources Inc.: Drilling at North Ashanti Gold Project Is Underway

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(CCNMatthews - March 20, 2007) - AMI Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:AMU) -

The Company wishes to announce the first phase of our 2007 drilling program has begun. An initial 5,000 metre (m) Reverse Circulation drill contract has been signed with Minerex Drilling Contractors. The rig is currently drilling at the Anuoro North Zone.

While waiting for the availability of a drill rig the Company's exploration activities have been concentrated in the following areas.

1. Beposo Resource Zone - This mineralized zone is located over the east northeast trending structures and a prominent northeast trending regional structure which projects northwards to the Konongo Mine. The current resource of +122,000 ounces has only been calculated to a depth of 75m and over a 1,000m of the known strike. In previous drill programs the Company extended this resource zone a further 650m to the north and a current tightly spaced soil geochem, pitting and trenching program has established this a further 400m to the north. A number of RC holes over this extended resource zone have been plotted.

2. Southeast Parallel Zone - Through soil geochem, pitting, and trenching the Company has extended this parallel zone a further 900m to the south and drill pads are currently being prepared. As previously reported several holes from the first reconnaissance drill program intercepted significant widths and grades (eg. 7m of 17.47 g/t Au) and several drill holes ended in mineralization.

3. Anuoro North Zone - Discovered during our 2006 program, the Anuoro North Zone is located approximately 500m south of the Konongo Mine license boundary within the southern projection of the Santreso deposit. As mentioned in our January 11, 2007 news release, significant widths and grades were encountered. (eg: 4m of 9.05 g/t still in mineralization.) An initial 25 RC holes will be drilled to a depth of approximately 70m on 50m line spacing before moving the drill down to drill the Southeast Parallel Zone while awaiting drill results.

4. Additional Targets - In June 2006, a Target Generation Report compiled by Dr. Colin Porter outlined potential gold mineralization sites within the North Ashanti Project. A geological reconnaissance program has been completed and several high priority targets have been identified. An initial soil geochem program is underway, to be followed by pitting and trenching to better outline future drill targets.

The North Ashanti Gold Project straddles fifteen kilometers along the main Ashanti Shear and lies directly south of the Konongo Mining lease, approximately 20 kilometers west of Newmont's Akyem deposit and approximately 50 kilometers northeast of Anglo/Ashanti's Obuasi Gold mine.

Simon Meadows-Smith, principal of SEMS Exploration Services Ltd., is the qualified person responsible for the preparation of the technical information in this news release.

Under the Company's Stock Option Plan 550,000 stock options exerciseable at $0.40 per share for a period of 5 years have been granted to certain directors, officers and employees of the Company.
