Amicus on NHS pay threat

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(CCNMatthews - Oct. 20, 2006) -

Kevin Coyne, Amicus' National Officer for Health, said:

"Our members in the NHS will not accept pay cuts on top of successive reorganisations and cuts to jobs and services.

"This is an absolutely inadequate offer and unless an improved one is put on the table we will not hesitate to proceed to ballot for industrial action."

Amicus Health has about 100,000 professional and skilled members working in the health sector including theatre nurses, blood transfusion specialists, pathology service workers, pharmacists and hospital chaplains.
