Amicus Reaction to Norwich Union's Announcement That it Intends to Transfer 1000 Customer Service Jobs to Swiss Re.

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(CCNMatthews - March 7, 2007) - Swiss Re will take over the administration of approximately 3 million Norwich Union heritage policies. The announcement affects 600 staff in Norwich and 400 in Stevenage. Norwich staff will remain in Norwich whilst staff based in Stevenage may stay on site or alternatively may move to a Swiss Re site in Hitchin.

Amicus Regional Officer Andy Case says,

"This is more disruption and uncertainty for staff particularly for those in Norwich who have already had more than their fair share.

Given Norwich Union's track record on redundancy and off-shoring, at least this time around staff will retain their jobs. Amicus will be doing all it can to ensure that the staff who transfer do so on the best possible terms."
