Amicus Reaction To Astra Zeneca Proposed Job Cuts

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(CCNMatthews - March 02, 2007) - Amicus trade union met informally with managers from Astra Zeneca today on the issue of the proposed 700 job cuts from the Macclesfield plant announced by the company two weeks ago.

Amicus' National Officer for pharmaceuticals, Linda McCulloch, said:

"We have asked the company to present a business plan to justify the proposed job cuts at its' Macclesfield plant and we have set a meeting date for two weeks time to discuss it in detail.

"We will make every effort to minimise any job losses and will oppose any attempt to make compulsory job cuts."
