Amicus sadness at closure of Lincoln castings

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(CCNMatthews - Dec. 12, 2006) - Amicus has expressed sadness at the announcement, made by administrators today, that Lincoln Castings will close in Christmas week (22nd December) with the loss of 190 jobs.

It had been hoped that closure might have been averted if a potential buyer could be found for the plant.

Amicus' Regional Officer, Steve Syson, said:

"This is very sad news and the fact that closure will be a week before Christmas makes it an even more anxious time for the plants employees.

"Amicus will be looking to ensure the loyal employees of Lincoln Castings get the benefits they are entitled to and we will be meeting with staff and the trade union committee next week to discuss potential opportunities for new employment in the local area."
