Amicus welcomes Ellesmere Port Astra deal

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(CCNMatthews - April 17, 2007) - Vauxhall (General Motors) has today announced that its' Ellesmere Port plant has won the contract to manufacture the new Astra.

Roger Maddison, Amicus National Officer, said:

"This is fantastic news. We have worked very hard to get to this point and I am delighted that over 2000 jobs at Vauxhall's Ellesmere Port plant are now secured for the next five or six years. It is good to see a company continuing to invest in the UK car manufacturing industry, unlike Peugeot."
