Amicus welcomes Metronet offer

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(CCNMatthews - April 13, 2007) - Amicus, the largest engineering union has welcomed the significant offer made by Metronet in an attempt to avoid disruption on the London Tube service.

Derek Simpson, General Secretary of Amicus says: "After many weeks of intense negotiations with Metronet, they have made an offer which meets all of the unions' demands in respect of the proposed transfer of 49 managers to Bombardier. In addition this offer puts in place assurances which will ensure security of employment with Metronet for Amicus members across a range of engineering functions within the tube service.

"The Amicus shop stewards have unanimously endorsed the much improved offer and as a democratic organisation, a ballot seeking the views of all of our members within Metronet, will shortly commence."
