AMVIC Cancels Treadz Auto's Licence and Registrations

EDMONTON, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Aug. 28, 2014) - The Alberta Motor Vehicle Industry Council, the province's automotive regulator, has cancelled Treadz Auto's business licence and the three salesperson registrations that were connected to that business, effective August 28, 2014.

This means Treadz Auto, or anyone on its behalf, is no longer authorized to sell, consign, lease, repair, act as an agent/broker or wholesale vehicles.

Treadz Auto, a Calgary business that specialized in consignment, notified AMVIC that it had closed its doors prior to a meeting with AMVIC relating to an ongoing investigation.

Treadz Auto is being investigated by AMVIC and Calgary Police Service.

Compensation fund:

AMVIC has a compensation fund that helps consumers who have suffered a loss from an AMVIC-licensed business that is no longer in business. Consumers can make claims up to $25,000, to a maximum combined total of $300,000 per business event. Note, the loss must have occurred after the fund launched on June 30, 2011.
