An iPad and iPhone Application that Visualizes Your Performances -- "Visual Performer"

HAMAMATSU, JAPAN--(Marketwire - Oct 11, 2012) - Yamaha Corporation launched "Visual Performer," an application for iPad, iPod touch, and iPhone. This application with three graphic animations can be downloaded from the App Store for free. An additional seven graphic animations are available separately.

*All iPad, iPhone 4S/4/3GS, iPod touch (third and fourth generations), for operating system iOS 5.1 and later versions. However, iPad 2 or later, iPhone 4 or later, and iPod touch 4 are recommended.

Outline of the Application

Visual Performer is a new type of application that allows users to graphically visualize their musical performance by connecting keyboards, drums or other musical instruments to their device. The selected graphic animation plays and changes in time with the pitch and intensity of the performance. Users can enliven their stage performances by expressing themselves, musically and visually.

Further details are as follows:

Main features

1. Graphically visualize musical performances

The selected graphic animation plays and changes in time with the pitch and volume of the performance.

Three visualization patterns are included with the application, and an additional seven visualization patterns are available, separately. You can combine two patterns to create the right animation for your performance. You can overlay the graphic animation with video shot using your iPad, iPod touch, or iPhone's built-in camera. Preset the pattern to automatically change at a specified time during the performance, or use the Chain function to change the pattern via an operation on your instrument.* Visual Performer gives your performance presence and offers you the potential to express your performance, not only musically but also visually.

2. Express your performance visually via a MIDI instrument or perform with only the application

Enjoy Visual Performer by connecting to your MIDI instrument, such as a keyboard or drums, using the Yamaha i-MX1 MIDI interface (sold separately). Be both VJ and performer, and create visuals using the variety of rhythms and phrases on your synthesizer. Make use of your instrument's characteristics and enjoy a multitude of visual expression, e.g. graphically expressing the wave pattern dynamics of the fast, complex beat from your electric drums. Visual Performer also has a built-in software synthesizer that allows you to perform with the virtual keyboard or XY pad displayed on the screen, and enjoy creating audio and visual performances without connecting a musical instrument.

3. Be creative for diverse performances

Visual Performer supports AirPlay and allows you to display your visual performances other screens connected via Apple TV -- ideal for stage performances. The animation created while you were performing can be saved together with the audio recorded using the iPad, iPod touch, or iPhone's internal microphone, so you can share your performance via e-mail or on video-sharing web sites. The potential for diversity in your performances depends on your creativity.
