An Open Invitation to Pearson College Open Day

Join the International Student Body at Pearson College for a Day of Workshops, Presentations and Performances on Saturday, April 2

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - March 22, 2011) - You are cordially invited to Pearson College UWC for an Open Day of learning about the College and its international student body on Saturday, April 2.

Students, faculty and staff are offering a fascinating "day in the life of" experience at the campus. Participate in one of the many workshops, which include learning about a foreign language or the rubber-booted moves of the Gumboot Dance. Go on a nature walk, tour the Observatory or take a student-led campus tour. Listen to a Theory of Knowledge or International Affairs presentation. Throughout the day, snack on foods from many countries.

Pearson College is open to 200 students ages 16-19 from over 100 countries, who live study and grow together for two years on a campus spectacularly situated in a rainforest at the western tip of Vancouver Island at Pedder Bay. The College opened in 1974 under the mandate of its namesake, Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson, to use education as a force to unite people, nations and culture for peace and a sustainable future. Pearson's education is transformational, but there's only one way to get here - by scholarship, worth $80,000 over two years.

While one quarter of our graduates since 1974 have been Canadian, Pearson College purposely recruits students from regions of conflict so that the next generation will know how to work together to bring about peaceful change.
