Anapol Schwartz Law Firm Accepting Cases of Testosterone Therapy Patients

PHILADELPHIA, PA--(Marketwired - Mar 4, 2014) - The Anapol Schwartz personal injury law firm is now accepting cases in which testosterone therapy users suffered deadly cardiovascular complications such as heart attack, stroke and sudden death. Injured victims and their loved ones are urged to contact the firm immediately to protect their legal rights.

A 2014 study found as much as a three-fold increased risk of heart attack in men younger than 65 with a history of heart disease and a two-fold increased heart attack risk in all men older than 65.* Another study published in November 2013 found a 30 percent increased risk of stroke, heart attack and sudden death in older men taking prescription testosterone.**

The two high-profile studies published just months apart prompted the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to evaluate the deadly association between testosterone drugs and cardiovascular events. In their January 31 announcement, the agency reminded the public that testosterone supplements are only approved for men who have low testosterone levels in conjunction with an associated medical condition.***

Earlier testosterone research was halted in December 2009 when an unexpectedly large percentage of the study's subjects experienced cardiovascular-related adverse events. In fact, a total of 23 men in the testosterone group suffered adverse events compared to only five in the placebo group.****

"Patients must be adequately warned about the side effects of drugs in order to weigh the benefits and risks to their health," said Anapol Schwartz Shareholder Gregory Spizer. "But when drug manufacturers fail to warn them, they can be put at risk for life-threatening complications without ever knowing about the potentially very serious consequences of taking that drug."

Spizer is Co-Chair of the firm's Mass Tort Department and serves as Co-Lead Counsel in the Mirena Litigation in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Bergen County.
