Anatolia & Rio Tinto Extend Enriched Copper at Kizilviran

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(CCNMatthews - July 25, 2005) -

Drilling extends enriched blanket along the Main Ridge, including: 43 meters averaging 1.2% copper, 0.18 gpt gold and 0.01% Mo in KRC-016; 58 meters of 0.8% copper in KIZ-008/008A; and 49 meters of 0.9% copper in KRC-011.

In November 2004, Anatolia Minerals Development Limited (TSX:ANO) ("Anatolia") and Rio Tinto initiated a multiple rig drilling program at Kizilviran (part of the Tunceli joint exploration area ("JEA")) in eastern Turkey. Drilling is now complete in both the reverse circulation ("RC") drilling and diamond drilling phases of the program. There are a total of 2,555 meters of diamond drilling in 9 holes, including the 4 holes drilled by the joint venture in previous programs. RC drilling in this current phase totaled 2,543 meters in 18 holes. Detailed results for the most recent holes are presented following the Main Ridge Drilling Summary, and a map that indicates the locations of the holes is attached. This map is also available as part of this news release at Anatolia's web site (www.anatolia-minerals.com).

Recent drilling along the Main Ridge continues to produce encouraging results, where previous drilling by the joint venture intersected the chalcocite enriched blanket in multiple holes. A total of 12 holes in the Main Ridge Zone have now returned assays of good grades and thicknesses of mineralization, predominantly secondary enriched copper mineralization. The Main Ridge Zone now extends some 1.5 kilometers along strike with widths ranging from 200 to 500 meters, and remains open in several directions. The table below highlights results, some previously announced, from the Main Ridge Zone:

Note on KIZ-001: Core recovery for this hole was low, which may have adversely affected the reported assay results. Although these results were positive and demonstrated evidence of both secondary enriched and primary copper mineralization, it was necessary to drill a second hole from this location. KRC-011 was drilled from the same location as KIZ-001.

Richard C. Moores, President of Anatolia commented: "Results from the latest round of drilling are very encouraging. We have now cut from 8 to 80+ meter thicknesses of an enriched copper blanket over a length of nearly 1.5 kilometers, with widths of 200 to 500 meters, both open for extension. We have also cut interesting intercepts of good grade copper-gold-molybdenum mineralization in the primary zone. Overall, the project is shaping up into an exciting exploration prospect with potential to become a major porphyry play. Rio Tinto recently paid us the US$250,000 payment required to maintain their position in the property and a full review of results is ongoing. We continue to work closely with Rio Tinto to develop the next phase of exploration for later this year. And remember, Kizilviran is only one of a string of porphyry targets in the Tunceli Project portfolio."

The table below summarizes new results from the Main Ridge Zone drill holes. Also included are results for KIZ-004, KRC-003 and KRC-010, which were announced previously with results pending for certain assays. These results are being analyzed during the summer months while the Turkish military conducts exercises and training in parts of the province. Timing for the next program will be established once these results have been fully analyzed and can be incorporated into the Tunceli JEA's overall exploration plans.

Anatolia has been engaged in minerals exploration in Turkey since 1996. In January 2004, Anatolia increased to 100% its interest in the 4-million ounce inferred gold resource at Copler. Anatolia is advancing work at Copler to achieve a production decision by early 2006 for an open pit gold operation for the shallow leachable oxide portion of Copler. The Company also controls approximately 1.1 million hectares within Turkey, including four properties currently under joint exploration with Rio Tinto. The Rio Tinto agreement continues through 2007 and requires payment by Rio Tinto of expenditures for grassroots programs, specific prospect costs in which Rio Tinto is participating, and portions of Anatolia's Turkish field office expenses.

Anatolia currently has 49.5 million common shares issued and outstanding, 57.8 million fully diluted.

This news release may contain forward-looking statements in respect of various matters including upcoming work programs and events.
