Recent studies indicate that click fraud continues to threaten the security of online advertising. For instance, research firm Canaccord Adams recently conducted a survey of corporations, advertising agencies and online publishers; according to the June 2008 Online Ad Survey, 76 percent of respondents believe that at least 5 percent of online advertising activity is fraudulent. In fact, 26 percent believe that more than 10 percent is fraudulent. Meanwhile, the syndication of advertising inventory across multiple networks is growing at a significant pace as advertisers and networks strive to reach unique audiences. As a result, advertisers have very little visibility into where their advertising is being served.
