AVONDALE, AZ--(Marketwired - Oct 14, 2013) - While many private music schools have gone out of business or scaled down their staffing, Ed Anderson, founder of Anderson Institute of Music and Performing Arts (AIM) has gone from 20 students in 2008, to more than 750 students in fall of 2013, and counting.
After more than 2 years of planning, AIM is now set to open a state-of-the art community theater in Avondale, Arizona, that will showcase Arizona's youth performers, professional artists from around the world, and cultural performing groups from all over the country. AIM has been granted the privilege to perform Disney Musicals, Rogers and Hammerstein Musicals, as well as Broadways newest musicals as they are being released to the community theaters. This is an honor given to only highly qualified producing organizations through Music Theater International and the Rogers & Hammerstein library.
"The true backbone of our organization's growth is the quality of the teachers we hire in the first place," said Anderson, a Billboard winning songwriter and three-time AIRA (Academy of Independent Recording Artists) song of the year nominee and the former Executive Director of the Algonquin Theater in New York City. Anderson is also a former recording songwriter at Sony Records and grew up in a family of professional musicians and Hawaiian dancers.
"Unlike some music schools that hire college students or self-taught musicians to teach their students, we at AIM, hire professional music, dance and theater instructors with relevant degrees. Our instructors are qualified to teach our students the fundamentals of the arts that will raise world-class performers in our students." AIM's youth choir has performed at the New York City's Carnegie Hall twice and currently has an open invitation to perform again in 2014.
The community theater will seat nearly 300 audience members and will be located at Avondale's City Center south of Interstate 10 off Avondale Blvd. City planners, architects, and builders have been deligently working to meet their targeted opening date of January 24, 2014.

The 2014 season includes the following productions along with many more in the works: Nunsense, Beauty and the Beast, South Pacific, and Godspell. Some performances will entail bringing in professional theater actors from other parts of the country. Other roles will allow local artists to audition for roles.
