Anfield Discovers Additional High Grade Nickel Mineralization at Its Mayaniquel Project, Guatemala

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Sept. 9, 2010) - Anfield Nickel Corp. (TSX VENTURE:ANF) ("Anfield") is pleased to announce that significant high-grade nickel mineralization has been discovered in early exploration at the Tres Juanes target area at its 100% owned Mayaniquel nickel laterite project located in northeastern Guatemala. The results of the new discovery are highlighted by holes TJN10-028 that intersected 18.2 meters averaging 1.69% nickel including 7.3 meters at 2.53% nickel and TJN10-040 that intersected 15.9 meters averaging 1.79% nickel including 8.6 meters grading 2.46% nickel.

Drilling at Tres Juanes is currently focused at Tres Juanes Norte, one of three laterite occurrences within that exploration area. Surface mapping at Tres Juanes Norte has identified lateritic exposure over an area approximately 2 kilometers long by 600 meters wide. Drilling commenced with two drills, one each within the northern and southern portions of the exposure, and located approximately 800 meters apart. Results from the 48 holes drilled to date have identified significant nickel mineralization in both areas. Current drilling is focused on expanding these zones as well as testing the area between the zones (see Tres Juanes map). Once drilling has been completed at Tres Juanes Norte, the program will move to the two remaining areas, Tres Juanes Sur and Tres Juanes Rio.

New high grade nickel mineralization has also been identified at the Inicio deposit at Sechol. The drill program at Inicio is focused on expanding the known nickel mineralization into a previously undrilled area while also completing in-fill drilling to support upgrading areas of the existing mineral resource from the Inferred to Indicated category (see Inicio map). Current results of the drill program at Inicio are highlighted by holes SIN10-005 that intersected 15.6 meters grading 1.75% nickel including 6.4 meters averaging 2.31% nickel (expansion drilling), and SIN10-025 that intersected 21.3 meters averaging 1.84% nickel including 10 meters grading 2.51% nickel (in-fill drilling).

Mineral resources at the Chiis deposit continue to be expanded and additional areas of higher grade nickel mineralization have been identified, highlighted by hole NCC10-160 that intersected 24.2 meters averaging 1.59% nickel including 12.2 meters grading 1.97% nickel, and NCC10-201 that intersected 28.7 meters grading 1.60% nickel including 18.7 meters averaging 1.95% nickel. Nickel mineralization has now been identified over an area of 1,500 meters by 1,500 meters and the deposit remains open for expansion in three directions, particularly to the south and west (see Chiis map).

The interim NI 43-101 mineral resource estimate currently being completed will incorporate all drill results announced to date including the drilling completed on the Nueva Caledonia and Nueva Concepcion deposits. The updated resource estimate is expected to be completed by the second half of September 2010.

This news release includes drill results from holes NCO10-168 to NCO10-195 at Nueva Concepcion, holes NCC10-121 to NCC10-209 at the Chiis deposit, TJN10-001 to TJN10-048 (TJN10-047 pending) at Tres Juanes Norte and holes SIN10-001 to SIN10-031 at Sechol - Inicio. Significant intercepts from the latest drilling results are shown in the table below. Maps showing the location of the drill holes are attached to this news release (drill holes are currently drilled on a 100 meter by 100 meter grid pattern, except at Nueva Concepcion and the core of the Chiis deposit where in-fill drilling is being completed on nominal 70 meter centers):

These drill results do not differentiate limonite, transition or saprolite zone mineralization. A 0.8% Ni cutoff was used to determine mineralized sample intervals, with one internal sub-cutoff sample allowed per interval.

Seven drill rigs are operating on the Mayaniquel project, three at Tres Juanes Norte, three at Chiis, and one at Sechol – Inicio. To date, 1012 holes totaling 22,550 (August 28) meters have been drilled.

The Mayaniquel project comprises mineral exploration licenses totaling approximately 80,000 hectares in the nickel laterite belt surrounding Lake Izabal, 120 kilometers northeast of Guatemala City. Anfield's mineral exploration licenses lie adjacent to the "Fenix Project" owned by Compańia Guatemalteca de Niquel S.A., a subsidiary of HudBay Minerals, Inc.

On April 9, 2009, an independent NI 43-101 mineral resource estimate was prepared on the Mayaniquel project as shown in the table below:

Mineral resources do not have demonstrated economic viability.
(1)The Transition zone is a mixed horizon of limonite and saprolite material and was defined using both geological logging data and chemical analysis.
(2)The Saprolite zone represents the lower part of the laterite profile below the Transition zone and was defined using both geological logging data and chemical analysis
(3)DMT – dry million tonnes.
(4)Chiis is a zone within Nueva Concepcion.

In January 2010, Anfield initiated a 44,000 meter drill program at the project. The program is focused on expanding current NI 43-101 mineral resources at the Sechol and Nueva Concepcion /Chiis deposits and delineating new resources at the Nueva Caledonia, Tres Juanes and San Lucas target areas.

Andrew Carstensen, CPG, Vice President, Exploration for Anfield, is the Qualified Person as defined by NI 43-101 for the Mayaniquel Project and has reviewed and approved the contents of this news release. The quality assurance/quality control program is monitored by independent consultant Dr. Bruce M. Davis, FAusIMM. Logging and sampling are completed at Anfield's secure facility located at the project. Drill core is mechanically split on site with sample preparation completed at a newly installed facility at Anfield's exploration compound. Samples are prepared in accordance with ALS Chemex's standards with pulps subsequently shipped to their laboratory in Vancouver, Canada for X-Ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy (XRF) analysis, the common analytical technique used in nickel laterite exploration. Quality from the on-site sample preparation lab is monitored by an independent, rigorous QA/QC program. Anfield also inserts standards, blanks and duplicates selected on a random basis into the sample stream and sends 5% of the sample pulps to a check laboratory in Perth, Australia.
