Anfield Discovers Additional Nickel Laterite Deposit and Continues Upgrading Existing Resources at Its Mayaniquel Project, Guatemala

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - Jan. 13, 2011) - Anfield Nickel Corp. (TSX VENTURE:ANF) ("Anfield") is pleased to announce another nickel laterite deposit, Tres Juanes Rio, has been discovered at its 100% owned Mayaniquel nickel project located in eastern Guatemala. The discovery is highlighted by holes TJR10-002 that intersected 15.8 meters grading 2.02% nickel, and TJR10-005 that intersected 34.5 meters averaging 1.40% nickel including 20.0 meters grading 1.75% nickel.

Drilling at the Tres Juanes group of targets has revealed significant high-grade mineralization at each laterite occurrences drilled to date (Tres Juanes Norte, Sur and Rio). Outstanding assay results continue to be received from Tres Juanes Sur including TJS10-026 that intersected 19.4 meters grading 1.62% nickel including 7.5 meters grading 2.07% nickel, and TJS10-028 that intersected a total of 34.4 meters of nickel mineralization in two zones (17.2 meters grading 1.33% nickel including 4.3 meters averaging 2.22% nickel and 17.2 meters averaging 1.54% nickel including 7.3 meters grading 1.93% nickel).

Sechol - Inicio in-fill drilling continues to upgrade existing mineral resources from the Inferred to Indicated category, and to support on-going metallurgical and engineering studies. Significant recent results include holes SIN10-217, SIN10-274, and SIN10-287. SIN10-217 intersected 13.0 meters averaging 1.97% nickel including 10.30 meters averaging 2.20% nickel; SIN10-274 contained 20.80 meters averaging 2.07% nickel including 8.7 meters grading 3.13% nickel, and SIN10-287 intersected 10.80 meters averaging 1.72% nickel including 6.6 meters grading 2.23% nickel.

Drilling at the Chiis deposit has been completed and the mineral resource has been fully delineated. Nickel mineralization has now been defined over an area of approximately 1.7 kilometers by 1.5 kilometers. The holes reported in this news release relate to the drilling completed to define the southern boundary of the deposit and remaining in-fill holes. Of special note are holes NCC10-422 and NCC10-424 that intersected 14.6 meters averaging 1.83% nickel and 36.3 meters grading 1.34% nickel including 6.8 meters of 1.94% nickel respectively.

The 8 rig drill program paused in mid-December for the holiday season and is currently being re- started targeting laterite occurrences in the Tres Juanes area. Anfield's 2010 drill program totaled 32,783 meters in 1,574 holes at nine targets areas. Several additional un-tested laterite occurrences remain to be drilled in 2011.

This news release includes drill results from holes TRS10-015 to TJS10-035 at Tres Juanes Sur, TJR10-001 to TJR10-051 at Tres Juanes Rio, SIN10-170 to SIN10-288 at Sechol – Inicio, and NCC10-382 to NCC10-425 at Chiis. Significant intercepts from the latest drilling results are shown in the table below. Maps showing the location of the drill holes are attached to this news release (holes are drilled on a 100 meter by 100 meter grid pattern sufficient for calculation of Inferred Resources, except at Sechol-Inicio and the Chiis deposit where drilling is on nominal 70 meter centers for definition of Indicated Resources):

These drill results do not differentiate limonite, transition or saprolite zone mineralization. A 0.8% Ni cutoff was used to determine mineralized sample intervals, with one internal sub-cutoff sample allowed per interval.

The Mayaniquel project comprises mineral exploration licenses totaling approximately 60,000 hectares in the nickel laterite belt surrounding Lake Izabal, 120 kilometers northeast of Guatemala City. Anfield's mineral exploration licenses lie adjacent to the "Fenix Project" owned by Compania Guatemalteca de Niquel S.A., a subsidiary of HudBay Minerals, Inc.

On September 20, 2010, Anfield announced that it had received an interim, independent NI 43-101 compliant mineral resource estimate for the Mayaniquel project. The mineral resource estimate is shown in the table below:

Dry Metric Tonnes Nickel Grade Contained Nickel
1% Ni cutoff grade (million) (%) (million pounds)
Indicated Resource Category
Transition & Saprolite 12.1 1.57 416.4
Limonite 7.0 1.14 177.1
Inferred Resource Category
Transition & Saprolite 49.6 1.37 1,494.1
Limonite 13.1 1.11 319.6
Mineral resources do not have demonstrated economic viability.

Andrew Carstensen, CPG, Vice President, Exploration for Anfield, is the Qualified Person as defined by NI 43-101 for the Mayaniquel Project and has reviewed and approved the contents of this news release. The quality assurance/quality control program is monitored by independent consultant Dr. Bruce M. Davis, FAusIMM. Logging and sampling are completed at Anfield's secure facility located at the project. Drill core is mechanically split on site with sample preparation completed at a facility at Anfield's exploration compound. Samples are prepared in accordance with ALS Chemex's standards with pulps subsequently shipped to their laboratory in Vancouver, Canada for X-Ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy (XRF) analysis, the common analytical technique used in nickel laterite exploration. Quality from the on-site sample preparation lab is monitored by an independent, rigorous QA/QC program. Anfield also inserts standards, blanks and duplicates selected on a random basis into the sample stream and sends 5% of the sample pulps to a check laboratory in Perth, Australia.
