Anfield Provides Clarity Regarding Mining Reform News From Guatemala

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwire - June 28, 2012) - Anfield Nickel Corp. (TSX VENTURE:ANF) ("Anfield") today wishes to clarify recent media reports regarding proposed mining law reforms in Guatemala.

Anfield is aware that certain media reports have published statements that the President of Guatemala has introduced a proposal for reform of 55 articles of the Constitution of Guatemala, including a proposal for the government to have the right to acquire up to 40 percent of companies which exploit natural resources in Guatemala.

Such media reports have proven to be erroneous. Guatemala's Minister of Energy and Mines, Raul Archila, has confirmed that the government's intention is not to nationalize or otherwise seize an interest in natural resource projects in Guatemala such as Anfield's 100% owned Mayaniquel nickel laterite project in eastern Guatemala ("Mayaniquel").

Anfield's Chair David Strang commented, "We are pleased that the government of Guatemala has clarified its position that existing mineral projects will not be subject to expropriation, and look forward to ongoing development at Mayaniquel."

Anfield remains committed to development of Mayaniquel and will continue to monitor the political and economic climate in Guatemala.
