Angstrom Microsystems' Blade Racks Address Global Power Crisis

Sources Say Data Center Energy Costs Could Rise Over 45% Every Year Through 2012

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - September 10, 2008) - Leading the charge in "green computing" solutions across North America and beyond, Angstrom Microsystems Corp. (OTCBB: AGMS), today announced the commercialization of its AMS LiquiCool™ technology, an innovative computing cooling solution that can save large data centers millions of dollars a year in cooling costs.

"A couple of years ago, there was a study done that showed in 2001, average power requirement per rack in a data center was 1 to 3 kilowatts," said Lalit Jain, CEO of Angstrom. "At the time of the report, that number had already risen to 5 to 7 kilowatts, with high-density blade servers swallowing 24 to 30 kilowatts per rack.

"It is obvious then that data centers have exponentially grown in size and power consumption -- almost exclusively for cooling -- as the demand for computing has increased worldwide. So much so, that even if electricity prices remain static, which we have seen they have not, the cost to these data centers would rise over 45% every year, reaching $250 billion in 2012.

"Most people are unaware that we are truly reaching a global crisis. Angstrom sees energy saving as not only a 'green' solution, but an absolute necessity. Even the Wall Street Journal reported yesterday that our large competitors have entered the market in a flurry. Mr. Jain continued, "In order to accommodate increased cooling demand, most data centers have added more A/C or have tried to make air flow more efficient. Computer manufacturers have resorted to installing high speed fans to push hot air away from racks or integrating air-conditioning systems directly into the rack. Our highly efficient liquid cooled solution provides the advantage of direct 2-phase cooling and easy transport of heat away from the rack to locations outside of the data center. AMD LiquiCool replaces traditional air-conditioning with liquid cooling that is several orders of magnitude more effective."

Integrated into each blade, AMD LiquiCool, along with other Angstrom solutions, solves a variety of mounting problems plaguing data centers:

* Air conditioning usage: reduces the need on average by 75%, and in
  some cases even  eliminates A/C needed to cool clusters of computers.

* Power consumption: reduces power needed to run a cluster of computers
  by at least 20%.

* Noise generation: reduces, and in some cases, eliminates the noise of
  running computers in a rack.
