Animax Announces Canucks Cartoon Script Contest Winners

Three Winners Announced in Conjunction With KidScreen Summit

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwire - February 12, 2009) - Animax Entertainment, an Emmy winning creative development and entertainment studio with offices in Los Angeles, Toronto and Boston, announced today at the KidScreen Summit, the winners of the Canucks Cartoon Script Contest. First place went to Ryan Cordes and Gerald Thompson for "Journey Quest," second place went to Atul N. Rao and Greg van Riel for "Bem and Buzzy in 'Dawn of the Dynamic Deviants'" and third place went to Hollis Ludlow-Carroll's "D.V. Productions."

Animax Entertainment launched the first-ever Canucks Cartoon Script Contest which was open to all Canadian citizens to submit their cartoon scripts to be considered for cash prizes and option deals. The Animax development team reviewed all the submissions and chose the top three winners based on a variety of factors.

Prizes included the "Top Banana," a development option with Animax Entertainment worth $2,500 (Canadian) and a beer. Second- and third-place winners received $1,500 and $1,000, respectively.

"We received a lot of excellent scripts, good concepts that were well-executed. It made the job of choosing winners very difficult," said Animax founder and Executive Creative Director, Dave Thomas.

The contest was launched to coincide with the opening of Animax's new Toronto office where Gemini-winning producer Patricia Burns heads production operations.

The announcement was made at the leading conference for kids entertainment executives, the 10th annual KidScreen Summit in New York City. In addition to the announcement, Animax President Michael Bellavia is speaking on a summit panel about kids' virtual worlds.
