Anki Selects Sumo Logic to Deliver Best Game Performance and User Experience for Anki DRIVE

Groundbreaking Racing Game Uses Machine Data Intelligence to Deliver Insights to Product Development Teams

REDWOOD CITY, CA--(Marketwired - Apr 22, 2014) - Sumo Logic, the next generation machine data intelligence company, today announced that Anki, a consumer robotics and artificial intelligence company and creator of racing game Anki DRIVE, has implemented Sumo Logic to collect the event data of all Anki DRIVE actions. Anki DRIVE uses robotics and artificial intelligence to bring a video game experience into the real world.

Since implementation, players have raced the equivalent of the Monaco Grand Prix in simulations nearly 540,000 times, which has generated massive amounts of log data. The Sumo Logic service, with its proactive analytics, successfully harnesses these logs to enhance the Anki DRIVE back-end infrastructure and improves the overall availability of the system.

Sumo Logic provides the development team with real-time feedback on every event that goes on during an Anki DRIVE game -- statistics about the game, players in the game and more. Issues can now be discovered nearly instantaneously, compared to days prior to Sumo Logic, giving Anki much more agility to update code as needed and manage the analytics engine for the product team.

"We want Anki racers to have the best, most fun experience when they're playing Anki DRIVE," said Ben Whaley, director of infrastructure at Anki. "Sumo Logic help us achieve that, by automatically and instantly indexing a massive volume of data in real-time, for issues related to our analytics stack. It not only helps us ensure a resilient back-end service, it means we can deliver the best experience to our fans."

Sumo Logic indexes data from Apache and Nginx web servers, custom applications, and syslog, allowing millions of rows of data to be searched and queried within seconds.

"Machine data intelligence gives developers insights into their code that were never possible without onerous testing," said Vance Loiselle, president and CEO of Sumo Logic. "Our recent experience with Anki demonstrates the benefits of machine-learning based analytics, which can have quick, substantive and easily measurable results for developers while producing a better experience for customers."
