Announcing Rules Fest 2011 -- Developers Conference for Reasoning Technologies: Registration and Call for Papers Open

Keynote Focus on Artificial Intelligence

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - April 5, 2011) - Organizers announced today that Rules Fest 2011, the International Conference on Reasoning Technologies, a conference by developers for developers, will return to the San Francisco Bay Area this year from October 23-27, 2011.

Rules Fest, hosted by the non-profit Rules Fest Association, is a technical conference geared toward software developers, engineers, programmers and architects who create solutions to complex computing problems using reasoning technologies: rule-engines, logical reasoners, constraint-solvers, and other such building-blocks of practical artificial intelligence (AI). More than 200 coders, technologists, and technology managers from around the globe -- and especially from the world's most influential technology regions -- are expected to attend the conference in Burlingame, California.

Rules Fest offers three days of single-track sessions, enabling participants to explore a range of reasoning technologies and to exchange practical application knowledge, and a full day of "boot camps," hands-on tutorial and coding sessions.

Keynote Focus on Artificial Intelligence
Organizers say two keynote speeches will be delivered by experts in artificial intelligence: the first by Paul Haley, a veteran software technologist and business developer specializing in rule-based expert systems. Mr. Haley has been a leading figure in the commercialization of practical AI since the 1970s. The second will be delivered by Dr. Said Tabet, who has focused on standards and practices in artificial intelligence for more than a decade. Dr. Tabet is a co-founder of the RuleML Initiative, which enables cross-platform interoperability and reuse of rules.

Call for Papers
The Call for Papers for both conference presentations and poster sessions is open now. Conference organizers will give prime consideration to abstracts about:

  • Practical applications and case studies that illustrate reasoning technologies in-action.
  • Technical expositions that describe innovative, emergent, or disruptive reasoning technologies.
  • Theoretical discussions of reasoning algorithms, techniques, and methodologies applicable to creating products and services.
  • Discussions of frameworks, specifications, and standards that drive the adoption of reasoning technologies.
  • Visit http://rulesfest.org/html/callForSpeakers.html to view more details and submit abstract.

Career Center
Reflecting a welcome shift in the economy, a new addition to this year's conference is a career center where companies will be able to post job openings, and interviews will be conducted by recruiters. Companies interested in participating in the career center should contact careers@rulesfest.org for information.

Exhibition
This year's Rules Fest will also feature three days of exhibits highlighting the technologies and services that support the rules industry. Sponsorships at a variety of levels enable vendors to participate in the exhibits. Companies interested in exhibiting should contact sponsorships@rulesfest.org.

Conference Fee and Package Pricing
The standard fee for the conference is $499. All bootcamps are $299. For a limited time, Rules Fest organizers are offering a special early bird rate of $999 including an all-access conference pass, four nights at the Hyatt Regency Burlingame, a boot camp of choice, and 10% off from next year's conference. This "super early bird" rate is available until May 15, 2011 and reflects a savings of $350 off full price. Early discounts are also available for general admission and for bootcamps without a hotel stay. To register, attendees should visit the conference registration site on the conference website.
