Announcing the First-Ever Selenium Conference in San Francisco

April 2011 Event to Focus on the Future of Testing; Call for Proposals Now Open

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - December 7, 2010) - Sauce Labs, the company co-founded by Selenium creator Jason Huggins, today announced the inaugural Selenium Conference, which will take place on April 1-3, 2011 at the Marines' Memorial Club & Hotel in San Francisco. This will be the first-ever gathering of Selenium users, contributors and community participants who have helped make it the most popular open source cross-browser testing framework.

With software applications becoming increasingly web-based, browsers are now truly the operating system of the future. This means application providers not only have to ensure performance across all browsers, but they must also be able to sustain a competitive edge by rolling out new functionality quickly and easily. Only one tool has emerged as a clear favorite among developers, and a new standard in test automation software: Selenium.

Originally created in 2004, Selenium simplifies the complex process of testing web applications across different web browsers. Selenium has been downloaded more than three million times and the demand for technical skills and knowledge of Selenium in the job marketplace has accelerated dramatically in the last year. Sauce Labs has made Selenium testing even easier and more accessible to all development organizations with its cloud-based service, Sauce OnDemand.

"Selenium was born into an environment that values rapid software delivery, driven by agile software techniques, and specifically automated developer friendly testing tools. I couldn't be more proud of the community and momentum that has grown around the project," said Huggins. "Given its adoption rate, the demand for Selenium skills and the maturity of the software, the time couldn't be better for a dedicated Selenium event. We at Sauce Labs are proud to work with the community to launch this conference."
