Annual Kosher Wine Guide Published by The Jewish Week Now Available Online, and in Print on March 11, 2011

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - March 8, 2011) - Following the success of its first Kosher Wine Guide, The Jewish Week is publishing a second edition, appearing as a glossy-covered stand-alone issue in the March 11th issue. The guide will be provided free to all subscribers, with an additional 10,000 copies distributed to wine retailers, restaurants and Jewish organizations throughout the tri-state area.

With the largest circulation of any Jewish newspaper in the country, The Jewish Week reaches tens of thousand of readers each week. Its website edition, thejewishweek.com, reaches thousands more viewers in New York, Washington, Israel and throughout the world.

The magazine-style Kosher Wine Guide will include articles like how to pick the right wines for your Seder and profiles of the up-and-coming Kosher Garagistes -- and how they are contributing to the "wine revolution." Also featured will be a look at the Herzogs, the First Family of Kosher Wine. The Guide will publish the names of the new winners from The Jewish Week's Top 18 Kosher Wine Competition, in the following categories:

  • Top 18 White Wines Under $18
  • Top 18 White Wines Over $18
  • Top 18 Red Wines Under $25
  • Top 18 Red Wines Over $25
  • Top 18 Wines Over $50
  • Top 18 Red Wines
  • Top 18 White Wines
  • Top 18 Israeli Wines

Two weeks later, the Grand Wine Tasting will be held at the City Winery, a wine bar, restaurant, interactive event space and winemaking facility on 155 Varick St. in Tribeca, producing more than 250 barrels of wine a year, many of them kosher. The tasting will take place from 2-5 pm on Sunday, March 27

The Wine Tasting will be open to the public and is expected to attract over 500 participants. A select group of New York sommeliers, restaurateurs and wine writers -- including Michael Dorf, Chair of City Winery, Orr Reches, Aron Ritter, Seth Warshaw, Jeff Nathan, Alison Nathan, Yossie Horwitz, and Gamliel Kronemer -- will participate in the tasting.

The Wine Guide is published by The Jewish Week and co-sponsored by the Israel Ministry of Tourism.
