Anoto Wins 2008 Process Innovation Award for Solano County Public Health's Application of Digital Pen and Paper

Awards Recognize Innovation in the Application of Information Technology

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwire - December 17, 2008) - Anoto Group (STKM: ANOT), the inventor of Digital Pen and Paper technology, and Solano County Public Health, whose mission is to improve the health and quality of life for people in its community in California, have won a first-place Process Innovation Award. Solano County's application configured and implemented by IS2BE demonstrates not only business but social benefits in regard to the County's innovative use of the Digital Pen and Paper to prepare for a possible flu pandemic.

The Process Innovation Awards program honors a select few companies that focus on the return of significant business benefit and effectiveness that organizations derive. Anoto and Solano County Public Health were selected by an independent panel of industry experts based on process improvements that lead to gains in at least one of the following areas: productivity, profitability, ability to adapt to market conditions, or competitive standing/market share.

"It was very difficult for our judges to make the final choices this year," said Luke Hager, Managing Director of High Tech Media Publications. "The entries were all outstanding and further prove that many organizations are being aggressively creative in their application of information technology as demonstrated by Anoto and Solano County Public Health."

Anoto digital pen technology enabled the capture of a patient filling out a health form in real time whether it was handwriting or a check in a box on a patient form. The data could be transmitted back to a PC or server -- via a docking station -- without the need for manual key strokes. The Anoto dot pattern that was printed on patient health forms ensured complete traceability and data collection accuracy. Its healthcare professionals were able to obtain critical patient information in real time to ensure that they were able to administer the flu vaccine to patients who would not have an adverse reaction.

"The use of the digital pen and paper eliminated the need to manually enter the data but even more importantly it eliminated the risk of getting incorrect interpretations of that patient's data," stated Michael Frenn, the EMS agency administrator for Solano County and president-elect of the Emergency Medical Services Administrators Associations of California.
