Anritsu Establishes an Office in Bangalore, India

ATSUGI-SHI, Kanagawa, Japan--(CCNMatthews - Jul 22, 2005) -

Anritsu Corporation (under President Hiromichi Toda) is establishing an office in Bangalore, India to expand its India business in test and measurement for mobile phone related equipment. The new office will open as the Anritsu Corporation India Liaison Office on August 1.

Background and Purpose of the New Office

India, as one of the BRIC quartet of developing economies -- Brazil, Russia, India and China -- is expected to achieve major economic growth. Its information technology (IT) market exceeded 2.6 trillion yen in 2004, and is expected to sustain high growth rates in the future. In this context, number of mobile subscribers is also increasing, reaching 50 million in 2005 (the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India announced the figure of 57.38 million as of June, 2005). With the telephone penetration level still below 10%, demand for mobile phones in India with low call charges is expected to multiply rapidly. Many of the world's leading telecommunications companies have already entered the Indian market, and demand for test and measuring equipment for mobile phone systems seems certain to increase rapidly.

Anritsu, in establishing a liaison office in Bangalore with a staff of four, is committed to serving these growing needs for test and measurement equipment for mobile phone systems. Bangalore is called India's "Silicon valley," and is home not only to many of the world's leading telecommunications companies but also a high concentration of Indian software development companies. As the center of India's mobile phone industry, its needs of test and measurement equipment for research and development are increasing. The establishment of the new office aims not only to serve the needs of the Indian market itself but also to create business opportunities to serve world-class players in telecommunications by strengthening support capabilities for Anritsu's proposal. By proposing optimum solutions for each company's needs in India, Anritsu expects to contribute for expansion of global business.
