Ansell Healthcare Asks "What Will You Promise to Do in the Next 69 Seconds to Make a Global Impact?"

Support Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and Their Global #FightBreastCancer Event

RED BANK, NEW JERSEY--(Marketwire - Sept. 30, 2010) - Ansell Healthcare is encouraging all its customers and constituents to engage in today's global #FightBreastCancer event sponsored by Susan G. Komen for the Cure® to help end breast cancer.

The #FightBreastCancer event is leveraging Facebook®, Twitter® and blogs from September 30 through midnight (EDT) October 1 in a massive global effort to build awareness that every 69 seconds a woman dies of breast cancer somewhere in the world. Over the next 24 hours, the goal of Komen for the Cure is to mobilize millions to take 69 seconds to fight breast cancer and break the Guinness World Record for the most widespread message sent via social media along the way.

This campaign is enabling individuals to take simple actions, which they can do in 69 seconds, to demonstrate that millions of people are unified in their resolve to end breast cancer globally. This campaign is the kick-off to October - National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Ansell along with SGK and its supporters want to digitally engage more than one million people on 7 continents in the next 24 hours to change their Facebook and/or Twitter status to reflect breast cancer awareness messaging and then extend the effort through participation in one or more of the following actions/promises:

  • Change: Individuals can sign a Komen petition to make cancer a global priority by including it in the UN millennium goals
  • Support: People can upload a photo to Susan G. Komen's digital mosaic to show the vastness of the breast cancer movement
  • Education: Individuals can take a breast health quiz and access further information to take charge of their own breast health

"We are so proud to be a corporate partner of Susan G. Komen for the Cure® and we want our entire global community to get involved in this important 24-hour event," said Heather Campbell of Ansell Healthcare Products LLC ("Ansell Healthcare"). "Breast cancer will strike 1.3 million women globally this year and almost 500,000 will lose their battle with this disease, making it the leading cause of cancer deaths in women worldwide. The key to changing this is awareness, education and outreach – and this campaign will address all these goals."

Ansell Healthcare is urging you to join them today by getting involved in the #FightBreastCancer event and updating your Facebook or Twitter status with the following messages…

About Susan G. Komen for the Cure®

Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Komen Race for the Cure®, we have invested more than $1.5 billion to fulfill our promise, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.
