Anya Marina Unveils Chop Shop Records Debut; "SLOW & STEADY SEDUCTION: PHASE II" Due January 20th; Acclaimed Singer/Songwriter Sets January Tour, Including Headline Performance in New York

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - December 16, 2008) - Chop Shop Records has announced the upcoming release of "SLOW & STEADY SEDUCTION: PHASE II," the much anticipated new album from acclaimed singer/songwriter Anya Marina. The collection -- which includes the single, "Move You (SSSPII)" -- arrives in stores and at all digital retailers on January 20th.

The album will be heralded by the digital release of "Move You (SSSPII)," recently featured in a memorable episode of ABC's "Grey's Anatomy." The track will be available exclusively at the iTunes Store, beginning today, December 16th. The Roman Polanski-inspired companion video to "Move You (SSSPII)" will premiere on AOL on December 23rd.

Produced by Louis XIV's Brian Karscig and Spoon's Britt Daniel, "SLOW & STEADY SEDUCTION: PHASE II" is a tightly honed collection of winking pop gems and slyly sexy rock 'n' roll, an ideal showcase for Marina's deft melodic sensibility and striking vocal stylings. Tracks such as "High on the Ceiling" and "Cut It Out" are distinguished by the San Diego-based artist's unique lyrical perspective, at turns wryly humorous and disarmingly intimate. Other highlights include the cabaret-tinged "All The Same To Me" and an evocative cover of the Antonio Carlos Jobim/Elis Regina classic, "Waters of March."

Marina -- who recently wrapped a series of well-received shows alongside Atlantic recording artist Jason Mraz -- will celebrate the release of "SLOW & STEADY SEDUCTION: PHASE II" with a January slate of dates, including an album release day headline performance at New York City's Mercury Lounge on January 20th. Also scheduled are a number of multi-artist shows with Greg Laswell and Jenny Owens Young, set for stops in Boston, Washington, DC, Brooklyn, and Philadelphia (see itinerary below). Further North American dates will be announced shortly.

Marina and "SLOW & STEADY SEDUCTION: PHASE II" have already begun receiving copious critical commendation, including a three-star review in Rolling Stone and a "Breaking Out" feature in Spin. Filter praised the album as "a playfully rhythmic and melodic collection of thought-provoking pop tunes that present a matured songwriter with a bit of edge," while also raving about a recent Los Angeles live set: "The petite and dainty singer-songwriter stormed through the Hotel Café as if she were a ten foot tall behemoth finger-strumming, bossa nova-ing, and ripping jokes like she was just one of the guys... All joshing aside, Anya's real strength was her music. Her mousy voice combined with the strong songwriting made for a really enjoyable set. She brought a hodgepodge of sound with each new song she introduced... Anya Marina is definitely one to watch."
