AnyDATA Tiny Embedded Module Wins Industry Award

IRVINE, CA--(Marketwire - October 5, 2010) -  AnyDATA Corporation, a global leader in the design and manufacture of wireless communications devices, announces it has been selected to receive the 2010 Smart Wireless Award for Modules based on its DTW-500D CDMA2000® 1xEV-DO Wearable Mobile Device Module. AnyDATA was selected for this recognition by the CDMA Development Group (CDG) to celebrate and promote the most innovative wireless products and services using modules on CDMA networks in the areas of healthcare, consumer electronics, energy and telematics vertical market segments.

The AnyDATA DTW-500D is one of a series of low cost embedded CDMA and GSM/HSPA modules designed for mobile Internet devices. These tiny broadband modules measure only 21mm x 22mm x 4.5mm, which is smaller in size than a quarter coin and weigh only 4 grams. Still the module includes GPS and AGPS technology for locating the device whether indoors or outdoors. As another innovative feature, the module includes an accelerometer which can be useful in medical devices or consumer electronic products for motion sensing applications.

The DTW series of miniature embedded modules will utilize the same 90 pin connector and USB 2.0 interface. This enables device companies to utilize different versions of the modules to cost effectively operate on various cellular networks. The AnyDATA DTW-200 module operates on CDMA2000 1X networks while the AnyDATA DTW-500D utilizes EV-DO Rev. A technology. The AnyDATA DTW-400 module operates on UMTS/EDGE/GPRS/GSM networks, while the DTW-600 version operates on quad band GSM networks, as well as tri-band UMTS networks that support high-speed HSPA technology.

"We are honored to accept this award from the CDMA Development Group for these tiny embedded 2G and 3G wireless data modules," said Dr. Soon B. Shin, CEO of AnyDATA. "We are pleased to work with our longtime partner, Qualcomm, to commercially develop this new broadband module to support a wide variety of connected consumer electronics and enterprise telemetry devices."

"The CDG congratulates AnyDATA on winning the inaugural Smart Wireless Award in the Modules category," said Perry LaForge, executive director of the CDMA Development Group. "The DTW-500D module enables 3G CDMA connectivity in devices that were previously a challenge due to their incredibly small size. This is opening up a new area of innovation for several consumer, enterprise and vertical industry applications."

"AnyDATA's DTW-500D module, developed based on Qualcomm's Wearable Mobile Device module reference design, will provide new opportunities for device companies to integrate broadband wireless connectivity into their products," said Jack Steenstra, vice president of engineering at Qualcomm.
