Apcera Extends Its Hybrid Cloud Ecosystem to Mirantis OpenStack, Enabling Seamless and Secure Cross-Cloud Functionality

Hybrid Cloud Operating System Breaks New Ground at OpenStack Summit, May 18-22 in Vancouver

SAN FRANCISCO, CA and VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwired - May 19, 2015) - Apcera® today announced that its Hybrid Cloud Operating System (HCOS) is now available for Mirantis OpenStack users, bringing cross-cloud functionality to this large and rapidly growing community. OpenStack users can now easily, safely and automatically connect with multiple public clouds, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), VMware vSphere, and Google Compute Engine (GCE), enabling applications to be shared, moved and governed consistently and securely across all clouds, from a single technology platform. Apcera's policy-driven HCOS delivers enhanced security and workload mobility for OpenStack by extending fine-grained policy and strong governance functionality across all cloud environments.

Additionally, Apcera will be included in the OpenStack Community Application Catalog, an online resource that makes it easy for developers and IT users to find and provision pre-configured cloud-ready applications, tools and resources with a few simple clicks. Apcera will demonstrate OpenStack integration with its HCOS in booth P6 at the OpenStack Summit in Vancouver, British Columbia, this week.

"From our inception, we have strongly supported the open source community," said Derek Collison, founder and CEO of Apcera. "As adoption of the hybrid cloud takes hold, it becomes even more critical that open source solutions have the same level of security and governance offered by traditional commercial solutions. By partnering with Mirantis, the leader in OpenStack technology, we are able to deliver the most secure platform for OpenStack users and create a bridge to extend OpenStack interoperability across the public cloud."

"Many enterprises today want to combine the power of OpenStack with other public and private clouds," said Mirantis CEO Adrian Ionel. "By certifying Apcera with Mirantis OpenStack, our customers have this ability at their fingertips, backed with the ubiquitous policy and governance enabled by Apcera's Hybrid Cloud Operating System."

Apcera's HCOS sits across an organization's private and public clouds -- including OpenStack, AWS, VMware vSphere, GCE and IBM SoftLayer -- enabling users to deploy workloads rapidly, and orchestrate and govern applications' access to the compute resources they need, all on a foundation of trust. The Apcera HCOS takes a vendor-agnostic approach, giving organizations greater control over resources, automating the execution of programs and turning up of resources, providing more visibility into how the resources interact, and enabling security and policy to be applied consistently across the entire environment.

Apcera is pre-configured for OpenStack and published in the Community Application Catalog using the OpenStack Murano project. Murano provides IT administrators and application publishers the tools they need to pre-configure and publish applications for easier deployment on OpenStack.
