APEGBC's Organizational Quality Management Program Recognized with ACE Award

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Sept. 26, 2013) - The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (APEGBC) is the proud recipient of the 2013 Association Cornerstone of Excellence (ACE) Award in the New Program category for its Organizational Quality Management Program. Presented annually by the Canadian Society of Association Executives (CSAE), the ACE awards showcase outstanding achievement in the association sector. Awards in the New Program category recognize innovative and unique association programs with proven success.

The Organizational Quality Management Program (OQM) is a voluntary program implemented by APEGBC to improve overall quality management in professional engineering and geoscience practice at an organizational level. The program recognizes the significant influence that organizations employing professional engineers and geoscientists have on the practice of these professions, and assists them in implementing or adapting in-house quality management practices and procedures consistent with the quality management requirements that individual professional engineers and geoscientists must meet under the Engineers and Geoscientists Act and APEGBC's Bylaws.

The program offers OQM certification to companies and organizations employing APEGBC professionals, which identifies those organizations as adhering to an APEGBC-endorsed quality management program. The program is self-funded and available to all organizations carrying out professional engineering and/or geoscience. Since its launch in September 2012, over 100 organizations have participated in the program, ranging from sole practitioners to large multinational corporations.

Founded in 1920, APEGBC is the regulatory and licensing body for the professions of engineering and geoscience and is charged with protecting the public interest. With over 29,000 members, APEGBC is one of the largest professional associations in BC and maintains high academic, experience and professional practice standards.
