Apex Powers Its Online Sailing Schedules With CargoSmart

Apex Enhances Its Online Services for Customers and Gains Internal Efficiencies

SAN JOSE, CA--(Marketwire - February 23, 2010) - CargoSmart Limited, a leading Software as a Service (SaaS) global shipping and logistics solutions provider, today announced that The Apex Group, a top five Non-Vessel Operating Common Carrier (NVOCC) for the transpacific trade to the United States, has implemented CargoSmart Private Label Sailing Schedule to deliver online sailing schedules to its customers. Apex uses CargoSmart's Private Label Sailing Schedule to provide its customers with interactive, multiple-carrier schedules directly from its public Web site at www.apexshipping.com.

Apex now offers a leading online sailing schedule application to its customers, makes schedule updates available to customers more quickly, and saves time and effort while managing schedules. "CargoSmart Private Label Sailing Schedule enabled us to enhance our Web site with minimal in-house effort and to provide value-added services to our customers," said Kevin Bulger, vice president of operations, Apex Maritime.

Frequent changes to ocean carriers' schedules, vessel diversions, port shutdowns, and dock strikes make it critical for logistics service providers to have reliable schedule information for their customers. To provide its customers with current schedule information, Apex receives automatic schedule updates from CargoSmart. From Apex's Web site, customers search schedules by carrier, origin and destination cities, and arrival and departure timeframes. The customized search results include cut-off dates and estimated transit times. Apex's customers can print schedules directly from the search results page. They can also download the search results in Excel to sort, share, and print the schedules.

Managing constantly changing schedules requires time, effort, and resources. Apex used to manually update sailing schedules for 16 carriers in Excel and post them on its Web site for customers. Apex wanted to automate its sailing schedule update process and provide its customers with a sophisticated online search function that offered tailored results and flexible download capabilities.

"We implemented CargoSmart Private Label Sailing Schedule in less than a month," added Mr. Bulger. "The automated solution saves our customer service team 20 days a year and allows us to be proactive with our customers rather than focusing on updating spreadsheets." Selecting CargoSmart for its own branded sailing schedule solution has allowed Apex to enhance its customer service and improve its internal efficiencies.
