Apex Tool Group Announces Latest Addition to Its Hand Tool and Chain Safety Training Program

Global Tool Company Provides Comprehensive Resource for Best Safety Practices

SPARKS, MD--(Marketwired - May 22, 2013) - Apex Tool Group, LLC, one of the largest worldwide producers of hand tools, chain, chain accessories, and numerous other industrial tool products, today announced the addition of a new presentation module to its "Safety Matters" hand tool and chain safety training program. "Striking, Struck, and Prying Tool Safety" joins the four previously existing presentation modules in the extensive hand tool and chain safety training program, designed to help safety directors, plant managers, and supervisors implement a safer working environment. An advertising campaign to promote the program, directed at industrial distributors, will debut in June.

The Safety Matters program includes a high-energy meeting kickoff video designed to show participants how safety in the workplace impacts them personally and to set an interactive tone for the discussion. The video is followed by one or more safety training presentation modules:

  • Basic Hand Tool Safety -- a comprehensive presentation about best practices for hand tool safety.
  • Socket, Ratchet and Wrench Safety -- an in-depth presentation on the special safety precautions required when using sockets, ratchets and wrenches.
  • Industrial Knife Safety -- a common-sense approach to improve safety awareness and reduce and prevent hand injuries.
  • Lifting Clamp Safety -- a step-by-step guide for safe operational procedures to be followed in lifting clamp applications.
  • Striking, Struck, and Prying Tool Safety -- a detailed look at best safety practices for some of the most common -- and frequently misused -- hand tools.

"This safety presentation is an invaluable resource for anyone who works with hand tools or chain," said Bill Bliss, marketing communications manager for Apex Tool Group. "We've committed substantial resources to this program and are making it available to industrial operations nationwide so their workers will be more aware of dangers and will be proactive in taking the necessary steps to minimize jobsite injuries."

The comprehensive new program was developed for those working in the energy, construction, mining, transportation, and maintenance, repair and operations fields. The individual modules can be customized to meet the unique needs of each of these groups. Each module includes real-world application examples. Safety professionals from Apex Tool Group provide the in-person training, which takes approximately 30 minutes to one hour to complete, including a short review quiz that follows each module. At the end of the training, participants are given certificates of completion.

Additional modules, covering other areas of hand tool and chain safety and proper usage, are planned.
