APICS Announces Corporate Awards of Excellence Winners for Leadership in the Global Economy and Operations Management at the 2009 APICS International Conference & Expo

Awards Program Recognizes Unilever, TransAlta, and Exactech Inc. for Leadership in Educational Excellence, Technology Partnership, and Innovation in Global Ability

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - October 6, 2009) - APICS The Association for Operations Management, the global leader in supply chain and operations management certification, education, and membership, announced the winners of the 2009 APICS Corporate Awards of Excellence. In addition to the prestigious Education Award of Excellence and Technology Partnership Award of Excellence, APICS introduced the new Innovation in Global Ability Award of Excellence to recognize leadership and innovation among the global corporate community.

The awards were presented to Unilever; TransAlta; and Exactech, in partnership with DemandWorks and AdapChain Inc. at the 2009 APICS International Conference & Expo in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, October 5.

Unilever's Plan Learning Framework was awarded the Education Award of Excellence, which recognizes an organization's commitment to education investment and productivity based on the application of educational concepts.

TransAlta, a leader in energy production in Canada, was awarded the new Innovation in Global Ability Award of Excellence, which recognizes an organization's achievement in ensuring their company and employees are able to compete and succeed in the global marketplace, workforce, environment, and economy.

APICS also honored Exactech, an orthopaedic manufacturer with the Technology Partnership Award of Excellence for their innovative partnership with solutions providers DemandWorks and AdapChain Inc. to maximize efficiency and profitability.

The APICS Corporate Awards of Excellence honorees were selected by a panel of industry and subject matter experts. The award honorees are evaluated based on the business results, ongoing impact, and practicality of their submission. APICS Corporate Awards of Excellence honorees were recognized for their achievements at the 2009 APICS International Conference & Expo in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, October 4-6, 2009.
