APICS Honors Its Volunteers' Leadership, Vision, and Commitment to the Profession at the 2009 APICS International Conference & Expo

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwire - October 7, 2009) - APICS The Association for Operations Management, the global leader in operations and supply chain management education, certification, and membership, today announced its honorees for three prestigious service awards -- the Voluntary Service Award, the Student Voluntary Service Award, and the Student Chapter Mentor Award -- awards that recognize individuals for outstanding volunteer work supporting APICS, its chapters, and student chapters. Honorees were recognized at the 2009 APICS International Conference & Expo, October 3 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.

"Volunteers are the lifeblood of professional associations like APICS," said APICS CEO Abe Eshkenazi, CSCP, CPA, CAE. "APICS and the operations and supply chain management profession depend on the contributions and accomplishments of outstanding volunteers from across the globe -- the 2009 Service Award honorees embody this."

The prestigious APICS Voluntary Service Award is presented annually to an APICS member who demonstrates superior leadership, achievements, and contributions to the association in areas that include APICS chapter committees and certification programs. APICS Voluntary Service Award honorees, such as Kevin Hill, CPIM, demonstrate pride in volunteering and helping others through dedication to their profession.

Additionally, the APICS Student Voluntary Award was presented to Amanda Braddock, an operations management student who has shown commitment to APICS and her chosen profession.

Nesa Wu, Ph.D., received the 2009 APICS Student Chapter Mentor Award, which honors an operations management professional who has positively affected the lives of students and shown a commitment to the APICS vision. Through volunteering, mentoring, and leadership she has shown her dedication and passion for APICS, Greater Detroit chapter, and her students.
