Apigee: Digital Business Acceleration
Apigee helps organisations in a wide range of industries become digital businesses, leveraging their digital assets to fundamentally change the way they bring value to customers, partners and employees. Through APIs and big data predictive analytics, Apigee helps businesses move at the new speed of the digital economy, while predicting and continuously adapting to change.

Apigee's API platform, Apigee Edge, is purpose-built for the digital economy, delivering what businesses need to manage the digital value chain from API exposure to API consumption -- and to measure the success of an API program with end-to-end analytics. Edge includes three components: API Services, Developer Services and Analytics Services.

As part of the company's product portfolio for digital businesses, Apigee also offers Apigee Insights -- a powerful big data predictive analytics platform that helps businesses engage with customers by anticipating their needs and addressing them with adaptive apps.

In a recent report by market research firm Forrester Research, Inc. "The Forrester Wave™: API Management Solutions, Q3 2014", Apigee was recognised as a Leader in API management, citing it to be particularly strong in analytics and its comprehensive solution that includes value-added functions. In a separate Forrester report, "Applying The Forrester Wave™: API Management Solutions, Q3 2014," Apigee received the top score for current offering in the "API Service Providers" scenario -- the use case for organisations whose API strategy is to create a new source of revenue by charging for use of its APIs.

Gartner predicts1 that by 2020, "more than 7 billion people and businesses, and at least 35 billion devices, will be connected to the Internet." To compete in this always-on connected world, businesses must digitise their models to move at "Internet speed" and deliver true customer value. Recent Forrester Research2 also emphasises the digital business imperative, with 93 per cent of executives surveyed in its 2014 Digital Business Online Survey believing that digital will disrupt their business in the next 12 months.

Philips Lighting leverages the Apigee API platform to power digital innovation in lighting. "Through our open APIs and Apigee, developers are creating new ways to harness the Philips Hue programmable LED lighting system so that people can, for example, personalize the color of a light globe to remind them to feed their dog or to indicate current weather, all using apps from a smartphone," said Kevin Toms, developer program architect for Philips Hue.

Philips was named one of the most innovative companies in 2014 by Fast Company magazine, and it recently won an Apigee 2014 Digital Accelerator Award for the "Top API for the Internet of Things."

In April 2014, Apigee secured $60 million in funding to meet accelerating demand for digital business technologies. Apigee is investing to accelerate across all areas of its business to keep up with demand for APIs and big data analytics, as enterprises increasingly embrace these technologies for digital business.
