APOLAN to Host Passive Optical LAN Webinar With Industry Experts

Experts From Healthcare, Government and Education Will Discuss First-Hand Experiences With the Fiber-Based Technology

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Mar 17, 2015) - The Association for Passive Optical LAN (APOLAN), a non-profit organization that is driving adoption and educating the market about the advantages of passive optical LAN, announces a webinar on April 16, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. EDT/3:00 p.m. GMT. The APOLAN will be joined by a number of industry experts who will discuss how advancements in optical technologies are helping to evolve the LAN to better support modern IT services and applications of the third millennium.

The webinar will help CIOs, IT staff, architects, engineers and consultants understand how deploying high-performance, fiber-based LAN infrastructure can help lower cost, energy and space requirements across multiple markets, such as healthcare, education and federal government.

Spokespeople and topics include:

  • Healthcare engineer viewpoint: Darren Vican, RCDD, OSP vice president from RTKL Associates Inc., will speak to the proactive preparation in the design and implementation of a LAN infrastructure that promotes fiber cabling and passive optical network in hospitals.
  • Federal government integrator viewpoint: Dustin Bateman, senior solutions architect of VT Group, will offer insight into special considerations given to the installation, integration and commissioning of optical line terminals (OLTs) and optical network terminals (ONTs) within a passive optical LAN in both civil and military government facilities.
  • Education IT director viewpoint: Ron Velez, director of management and information systems (MIS) at White Plains City School District, will discuss lessons learned from deploying passive optical LAN technology within their school district.
